VetLab Notes is a new feature to highlight our North Carolina Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory System. Staff veterinarians will share unique cases, trends and other issues that they come across in the lab system. The lab system’s primary goal is to assist veterinarians and producers in diagnosing diseases of livestock and poultry, but there capable of testing for all species, including cats and dogs. Diagnosticians also perform necropsies, which are autopsies performed on animals, to determine cause of death.
Commissioner Steve Troxler recently recognized the dozens of employees who work in the Veterinary Division’s animal disease diagnostic laboratory in Raleigh.
