Fair season? But it’s only August!
When you think of the fair, you may picture carved pumpkins, flannel and the scent of kettle corn in the brisk fall air. Even though the summer heat is still upon us, fair season is almost here, with nearly two dozen fairs scheduled across the state over the next three months.
County fairs often offer deep-fried goodies, livestock exhibits, rides, games, entertainment and variety of handicraft displays. Each fair across the state is unique and showcases the traditions of the local community. Many of these fairs are low-cost, educational, rooted in agriculture and fun for the whole family!
The N.C. Mountain State Fair is slated for Sept. 11-20 in Fletcher, and the 11-day N.C. State Fair kicks off Oct. 15 in Raleigh.
