Discovering NC Agriculture: Serving the community with high-quality beef products at Moore Brothers Beef

Discovering NC Agriculture is a social media series focusing on N.C. grown, raised, caught, and made commodities. Originally started in 2025, this series has been renewed to run for another year! Tune in each month to see how an N.C. commodity is grown, harvested, packed for consumer use and more. Learn nutritional value, find fun recipes to try, hear from local chefs who use that product, and other unique commodity facts throughout the series. We look forward to helping you better understand some of our N.C. commodities and how they impact your everyday lives!

Moore Brothers Beef in Maxton has been producing high-quality beef products since 1999! As a member of our Got to Be NC Program, they are proud to provide local products to their customers through their Beef Market in Paxton.

Luther and Eddie Moore, owners of Moore Brothers Beef, are the fourth generation of family to raise cattle on the family farm. Moore Brothers Beef was started in 1891 by their great-grandfather Reverend W.L. Moore. From then until now, the family has worked hard to raise cattle and provide high-quality products for members of the community. In addition to raising beef cattle, they also produce 95% of the grains that are used in their cattle feed on-site at the farm.

All cows at Moore Brothers Beef are raised on grass and whole grains grown on the farm. From birth until adulthood, every step of the cow’s lives are monitored, cared for and respected. Once a cow reaches the appropriate weight, they are sent to a processor and dry aged for a minimum of two weeks to produce a more intense flavor and tenderness. All beef products produced by the farm are approved by the NCDA&CS and the USDA, and can be found at their Beef Market in Paxton.
