High school seniors and college students who participated in the N.C. State Fair Junior Livestock shows are eligible to apply for a $2,000 scholarship for an institute of higher learning. The deadline to apply is March 1.

- Every year since 2015, the N.C. State Fair has awarded $2,000 scholarships for higher education to youth who participated in livestock competitions at the State Fair.
- This is part of the N.C. State Fair Junior Livestock Scholarship Program that is funded through a portion of the annual Sale of Champions where grand and reserve grand champions, plus Got to Be NC winning animals are sold at auction.
- Since the program started, it has awarded a total of $611,000 in scholarships, something that I am incredibly proud of.
- The program is accepting applications now through March 1 for youth who have participated in the N.C. State Fair Livestock Shows regardless of the species, class or show placement.
- With the cost of higher education today, this is a great opportunity for families and students to cover some of their college, community college or technical college expenses.
- In 2025, the Sale of Champions brought in a total of $214,830.
- This year, we plan to offer up to 25 $2,000 scholarships, plus an additional $2,500 Farm Credit of N.C. Premier Scholarship being offered.
- You can find the application online at www.ncstatefair.org. Completed application packages must be returned to the State Fair postmarked by March 1 to be eligible.
