Smithfield Foods is selling 150,000 sows (female pigs) to Murphy Family Ventures, allowing the Murphy family to re-establish their independent pork production business.
Smithfield, the world’s largest pork processor, will continue to provide production services like feed and transportation. This deal will see Murphy Family Ventures operating as an independent entity with the capacity to produce 3.2 million hogs annually for Smithfield’s fresh pork operations.
