Grillers, smokers and pitmasters can discover premium firewood, cooking wood and smoking chunks from Chatham County’s Kindled Provisions at the upcoming Got to Be NC Festival.
Kindled Provisions will be among the dozens of Got to Be NC member companies that will fill the Got to Be NC Agriculture Pavilion in the Agri Supply Expo Center at the festival this weekend. From food and beverage products to gifts and swag, the pavilion celebrates all that North Carolina farms and agribusinesses have to offer.

Kindled Provisions was launched in 2016 as East Coast Firewood. According to Jason Hoyle, vice president of Kindled Provisions’ parent company Hunt Forest Resources, LLC, the company saw a rebrand over the last few years, becoming Kindled Provisions. While the company has been featured in the pavilion in years past, this is the first time festivalgoers will see the new Kindled Provisions brand at the festival.
“Our whole vision is the fireside provision,” Hoyle said. “So we hope to make the fireside experience more enjoyable. We’re excited to be at the Got to Be NC Festival to introduce folks to our products and hope they have a use for our products.”

Kindled Provisions’ kiln-fired cooking woods are meticulously crafted to burn longer and cleaner, and infuse flavor into the meats or vegetables being cooked. Available in oak, cherry and hickory, they’re designed to “deliver consistent heat and superior flavor infusion.”
Hoyle said Kindled Provisions receives its raw material largely from North Carolina forests, and mostly from within a 50-mile radius of their processing facility right outside Pittsboro in Moncure. Once the wood arrives, the logs naturally dry out for a while before they’re run through an electric splitter.

Once the wood is at the correct diameter, it’s tumbled to remove excess bark or debris – which later becomes mulch. Then it goes into a kiln for 48 hours – about 12 times as long as it would need to be certified. Hoyle said that’s so the wood gets extremely dry, making it easy for the user to light, use and store the product.
“It’s all about providing an exceptional user experience,” Hoyle said.
There’s about a 24-hour cooling period before the product is bagged or boxed and heading to grills, smokers and firepits across the world.
Their space in the pavilion will also be stocked with smoking chunks, aprons, cutting boards, swag and more. The company is also a regional retailer for Breeo products, such as firepits and pizza ovens that pair perfectly with Kindled Provisions cooking woods.
Hoyle said the company takes great pride in representing North Carolina’s forest products industry on a global scale, exporting their cooking woods to Saudia Arabia and the UAE. Last month, the company attended the Dubai Wood Show, showcasing the diverse and quality hardwoods our state has to offer.
“We’re selling a premier product that people all over the world are seeking, those Southern Appalachian hardwoods that grow in this area,” Hoyle said. “It’s the cream of the crop.”
The festival is set for May 16-18 at the N.C. State Fairgrounds in Raleigh. During the rest of the year, you can find Kindled Provisions at 840 Moncure Pittsboro Road in Moncure or follow them on Facebook.
