North Carolina wines pairs well with holiday gatherings and gift giving

Looking for the perfect hostess gift or presents for friends or family? Consider a bottle of North Carolina wine. The NC Wine and Grape Council has created a holiday gift guide and wine decoder that will help take the mystery out of shopping locally made wine products.

Does your husband enjoy bourbon or gin and tonics? Try a bourbon-aged red wine or a mead finished in gin barrels.

A coworker enjoy Pinot Noir? Buy her a bottle of North Carolina Chambourcin or a Cabernet Franc.

Does you mom enjoy Moscato? She would also enjoy sparkling muscadine wine or a sweet sparkling white.

“Whether you’re looking for a full-bodied red, crisp white or festive sparkling option, there’s a local N.C. product for every palate,” said Brianna Burns, wine marketing specialist with the N.C. Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services and executive director of the N.C. Wine and Grape Council. “Over the last two decades, North Carolina has become a farm-to-glass state. Our wines, ciders and meads are grown here and made here. It’s an agricultural success story that is gaining recognition nationally and internationally. Choosing a North Carolina wine for gift giving or serving at your holiday gatherings supports our farmers and our state’s growing wine industry. It also gives the gift giver a great local option for a memorable Christmas gift.”

North Carolina’s wine industry ranks among the top 10 nationally in production, and the 200-plus wineries across the state are celebrating the season with special offerings, events and promotions.
