Celebrating Love on the Farm

Valentine’s Day is a time to shower the one you love with a fun date, unique gifts, delicious food and more! Did you know that many farms across our state have both products and events to make this Valentine’s Day the best one yet? Check out our list of Valentine’s Day from the Farm ideas and visit other farms near you to see what events they have going on to help you celebrate the day!

1) Farm-to-Table Dinner at Footprints in the Garden 

Footprints in the Garden is a black owned family farm in Mount Olive. Established in 1883, the farm grows a variety of produce items, like strawberries, Brussel sprouts, okra, and cantaloupe. On February 10th, you and your significant other can enjoy a romantic night on the farm at their farm-to-table dinner event. From 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., enjoy a romantic evening in the green house, live music and dancing, a farm to table dinner utilizing farm fresh produce, farm made beverages and appetizers, and a lovely stroll around the farm with your loved one to capture Instagram worthy moments. 2) Dress Up and Snuggle a plush at Winchester Creek Farm 

Who doesn’t love an adorable stuffed animal for Valentine’s Day, especially one that looks like a farm animal? Winchester Creek Farm Alpacas & Minis in Waynesville has a variety of plush farm animals available in their farm store on-site, as well as dress up kits for you to dress the stuffed animal! In addition to their special Valentine’s Day stuffed animals, they also have apparel, home décor, jewelry, games, puzzles, garden items and more available in their farm store. There’s nothing better than snuggling up with an alpaca, highland cow or other adorable farm animal, and then taking home a stuffed animal to savor the memory!

3) Surprise Baby Goat Snuggles at Rancho Chikiito 

Does your significant other love baby goats? Then Rancho Chikiito in Smithfield has the perfect Valentine’s Day gift for you! Send a baby goat with a card, chocolates, balloon, and a single rose straight to their doorstep. Goat grams can be delivered to homes, work offices or even schools. However, approval must be gained by the purchaser if the goat is being delivered to a business or a school. The Rancho Chikiito staff will travel up to 25 miles outside of Smithfield without an additional charge. Longer distances will incur fees based on distance. 4) Horsing Around at Triangle Equine Assisted Learning 

Triangle Equine Assisted Learning, located in Wendell, is offering a unique experience this Valentine’s Day featuring a fun time on the farm with horses! You and your significant other can visit the farm for a fun-filled evening that will bring joy to your relationship through working with a horse. Sessions are 90 minutes long and require no riding. All activities will be done from the ground with the horse and no experience is necessary. This event will present obstacles and challenges for your partner, horse and human, to work through. 5) Local Flowers and Chocolate from Smith’s Nursery

Smith’s Nursery in Benson is offering the perfect pairing for Valentine’s Day this year with locally grown strawberries dipped in chocolate and fresh cut roses! The chocolate dipped strawberries are made with fresh winterberries and make a delicious treat for your loved one. Pair it with a beautiful rose bouquet and you are sure to sweep them off their feet. 6) A Nutty Valentine’s Day with Allen Family Orchards 

Allen Family Orchard in Tar Heel is offering chocolate covered pecan gifts for Valentine’s Day this year, including candied pecans, praline pecans, salted caramel pecans and chocolate pecans. They also have a variety of other Valentine’s Day items available in their farm store on-site, including stuffed animals, ice cream, cookies, milk shakes and more. 7) Gal-entines Day at Misty Morning Ranch 

Misty Morning Ranch in Robbins is hosting a Gal-entines Valentines Farm-Hers/Make-Hers Market on Feb. 10th from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.! Either grab your girl friends or your significant other to check out all the amazing female led entrepreneurs gifts and goodies. They will not only have small trinkets and crafts available, but also produce, meats and baked goods. Plus help support a local farm and possibly even see an ostrich up close when you visit! 8) Sip and Paint Party at Seven Springs Farm and Vineyard 

Seven Springs Farm and Vineyard in Norlina is hosting a Sip and Paint party for singles and couples on Saturday, February 10th from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Featuring Remy’s Bar Collection, this party is sure to present a fun and relaxing environment for a date or friends night out. Paintings will be Valentine’s Day inspired and live music will be provided. Singles tickets can be purchased for $40 or couples tickets can be purchased for $80. 9) Hearts and Crafts at Summerfield Farms 

Looking for something to do with the kids this Valentine’s Day? Summerfield Farms in Summerfield is offering a Hearts and Crafts event for kids and families on Sunday, Feb. 4th at 2 p.m. Tickets are $18 and include general admission, a craft kit to make two Valentine’s Day cards featuring farm friends, cookies, a self-serve hot cocoa station, bunny snuggle time, a meet-and-greet with one of their Highland Cows, photo opportunities and more! 10) Farm to Fork Picnic at Fearrington Village 

Does your significant other love a home-grown meal? Then give them a delicious dinner to look forward to at the Farm to Fork Picnic in Pittsboro! Taking place at Fearrington Village, this event brings local chefs and farmers together to create one amazing night. Visit a variety of tasting stations with both sips and nibbles to enjoy some of the best flavors in the state! Don’t forget to bring a blanket or lawn chairs to mark your spot and enjoy comfortably! The event will take place from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on June 2. Tickets can be purchased online here and cost $125 for adults and $50 for children ages 5 to 12. Enjoy!
