The Farm Family of the Day program is a new addition to the N.C. State Fair. The program recognizes 11 farm families who work hard everyday to impact our state’s agriculture industry. Families either nominated themselves or were nominated by members of the community. The program is sponsored by Tractor Supply Company and will run from October 14-24, 2021.
Jackson Farms Produce in Saint Pauls not only grows a variety of fruits and vegetables, like corn, peaches, beans and onions, but also produces beef and pork products. The multi-generational family farm continues to carry on its farming legacy in Robeson County by providing these delicious, local products to members of the community through the local farmers market and other community events.
According to Lenore Taylor, who nominated Jackson Farms Produce for the N.C. Farm Family of the Day program, the Jackson family can be found every Wednesday through Saturday at the Robeson County Farmers Market and people in the community look forward to seeing them there.
“They have a really good display of food that is fresh,” she said. “Many people have enjoyed their fresh foods, their friendly family and their willingness to participate in community activity.”
They also have a produce stand onsite where the public can visit the farm and stock up on fresh fruits and vegetables.
Another important part of agriculture that the Jackson family is involved in is educating the community, especially young people, on the importance of agriculture and eating local.
“The Jackson’s have taught many young people the beauty of fresh vegetables and home grown meats,” Lenore said. With young people driving the future of our state’s agriculture industry, this is an important piece that contributed to them being chosen as a Farm Family of the Day for Oct. 21 this year.
The Jackson family not only loves attending the N.C. State Fair each year for the friendships and quality time it generates, but also for the opportunity it brings to showcase their hard work and dedication to agriculture.
