The Western NC Farmers Market in Asheville opened in September of 1977, and it continues to serve the needs of farmers, residents and small businesses in the area. A lot of improvements have been made recently to the market to remodel and modernize the space. On Monday, the market received a $1.25 million grant from the Appalachian Regional Commission, which is going to allow for the development of a new concept at the market called CAFÉ. That stands for Center for Agricultural and Food Entrepreneurship.
