Today’s Topic: Agricultural Development and Farmland Preservation Trust Fund accepting applications

by | Oct 31, 2017

Agriculture Commissioner Steve Troxler sits down each week with Southern Farm Network’s Rhonda Garrison to discuss “Today’s Topic.”

The N.C. Agricultural Development and Farmland Preservation Trust Fund is accepting grant applications from county governments and nonprofit groups for projects to support the conservation of working farms and forests, and to foster the growth and sustainability of family farms.

Grants can be awarded to assist with conservation easements on land used for agricultural production. They also can be used to support public and private enterprise programs that promote profitable activities in agriculture, horticulture and forestry. In addition, grants can help counties with the cost of developing farmland protection plans.

The application deadline is Dec. 15 at 5 p.m. For grant applications and more information, visit www.ncadfp.org. And if you have questions, please call 919-707-3072.
