Agriculture Commissioner Steve Troxler sits down each week with Southern Farm Network’s Rhonda Garrison to discuss “Today’s Topic.”
Steve Troxler took the oath of office Jan. 6 to begin his fourth term as North Carolina’s commissioner of agriculture. He spoke with Rhonda about areas of focus for the next four years.
Commissioner Troxler says growing North Carolina’s agriculture industry from its current $84 billion economic impact to $100 billion remains a key goal. Other goals include helping farmers recover from Hurricane Matthew, recruiting more food manufacturers to the state and expanding markets for N.C. ag products domestically and internationally.
In addition, the department is planning for the new Agricultural Sciences Center, a $94 million laboratory complex with a completion goal of late 2020.
