Agriculture Commissioner Steve Troxler sits down each week with Southern Farm Network’s Rhonda Garrison to discuss “Today’s Topic.”

On Dec. 1, Commissioner Troxler was named a 2016 Tobacco Great by faculty in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at N.C. State University.

He received the award during Cooperative Extension’s Tobacco Day at the Johnston County Extension Center.

“When … you get an award, and it’s your peers that are the ones that are making the award, it means a lot,” says Commissioner Troxler, who began farming tobacco while still in college and later became a leading voice for North Carolina tobacco growers.

The CALS faculty has selected recipients of the Tobacco Great awards since 1971.
