The holiday season is in full swing and Christmas Eve is just a week away. This week we wanted to revisit some of our favorite Local Dish desserts. We love both of these recipes because you can make them in advance, the goodies store well in Christmas tins, and they’re great for gifts.
The recipe for Pecan Cracker Candy appeared a few years ago on a Local Dish segment with Brian Shrader and Lisa Prince during a month of pecan recipes. North Carolina produces between 4 and 5 million pounds of pecans each year.
This dish is super easy to make and will probably be a crowd favorite at holiday parties. Brian calls it the “perfect sweet thing.”
If you haven’t tried Pecan Cracker Candy, pick up some fresh NC-grown pecans and make tin of them today. Merry Christmas!

The next dessert is for chocolate-covered peanuts made in the crock pot. According to a newly released 2015 agricultural statistics report, 400 million pounds of peanuts were harvested last year. The recipe below uses two 16-ounce jars of lightly-salted, dry-roasted North Carolina peanuts. This recipe is perfect for Christmas goodie gifts.
