Agriculture Commissioner Steve Troxler sits down each week with Southern Farm Network’s Rhonda Garrison to discuss “Today’s Topic.”

The 2015 N.C. State Fair is enjoying great weather and attendance, with nearly 366,000 people coming through the gates during the first four days of the fair. The opening weekend also saw a successful auction of the top animals from the junior livestock shows.

The Junior Livestock Sale of Champions brought in a record $176,250 from the auction of the top steers, barrows, lambs and goats from the junior livestock shows. A truckload sale raised an additional $97,750, meaning that a total of $274,000 will be available to support youth scholarships and livestock programs.
