Today’s Topic: It’s National Ag Day

by | Mar 25, 2014

Southern Farm Network logoAgriculture Commissioner Steve Troxler sits down each week with Southern Farm Network’s Rhonda Garrison to discuss “Today’s Topic.”

Today is National Ag Day, a day to think about the importance of agriculture in America.

“Every day in the United States is Ag Day when you think about it,” Commissioner Troxler says, adding that agriculture provides food, clothing and many of the products Americans use in their daily lives.

Agriculture is also North Carolina’s leading industry, with an economic impact of $77 billion. Even during the Great Recession, its value grew.

Farmers should be proud of what they do and what they provide for Americans each day. Farming isn’t an easy career, but it’s rewarding to know that you are helping to feed and clothe others. Let’s appreciate the role farms play in our daily lives.
