Assistant Commissioner Joe Reardon was on the N.C. State University campus today to help celebrate Agriculture Awareness Week and National Ag Day. As part of the festivities, Joe was challenged to a milking contest by Dr. Richard Linton, dean of the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. While both have strong agricultural ties, both admitted that they don’t have much experience with dairy cows. But they were both great sports and the cows, Queenie and Molasses, were well-mannered throughout the contest. In the end, our very own Joe Reardon came back downtown with the blue ribbon. But the real winner is North Carolina’s agricultural industry, which was celebrated in one of the busiest areas of campus today. Take a look at the Twitter hashtag #AgAwarenessWeek or #aaw2014 for students’ reactions to the week’s events.
