Judges in the Farm to School Calendar Contest will have plenty of entries to pick from. This year, 3,854 art entries were submitted from students in kindergarten through fifth grades.
“That’s the most we have ever received,” said Heather Barnes, a marketing specialist who is coordinating the contest. “We have seen the number of entries grow by about 1,000 with each calendar. Judges will really have their work cut out for them, both because of the quantity as well as the quality of the art.”

A record number of entries have come in for the N.C. Farm to School Calendar Contest. Pictured are a few of the submissions.
The calendars have been popular with students and teachers. They contain daily agricultural facts that teachers can use in the classroom, and students, whose artwork is selected to be featured on the cover or with a month, will recieve a gift certificate.
Final judging takes place today. The winners will be announced at the Got to Be NC Festival May 17.
