WRAL reporter Brian Shrader and our own Lisa Prince feature seasonal recipes in their Got to Be Good Cookin’ segment using ingredients grown and available right here in North Carolina.
The Super Bowl may be over, but Brian and Lisa are gaining serving up with a collection of recipes you can use for the next big game. They kick things off with Sausage and Cheese Wontons. To make this simple appetizer, start by placing wonton wrappers in a miniature-muffin pan and bake them in the oven. Next, mix together a pound of browned and drained sausage, a cup of shredded Monterey Jack cheese, a cup of shredded cheddar cheese and a cup of ranch dressing. Add the sausage mixture to the wonton cups and bake an additional 10-15 minutes in the oven.
Lisa used hot sausage for this recipe, but says you can use any type you like. If you like an added kick, try topping the wontons with salsa or hot sauce before serving.
