It’s Christmas time and everywhere you go, there are carols constantly playing in the background. Lords a Leaping? Calling Birds and French Hens? What kind of Christmas gifts are they? Which got us thinking…what would the 12 Days of Christmas look like in North Carolina? North Carolina agriculture has so much to offer that it’s really hard to narrow it down to just 12 things, but we took a shot at it based mostly off our top commodities. Jim Burnette, the director of the NCDA&CS Structural Pest Control and Pesticides Division, expertly sang our tune amongst the holiday beauty in our lobby. Enjoy!
On the 12th day of Christmas, my true love gave to me….
12 Specialty Foods
11 Strips of Bacon
10 Catfish Swimming
9 Plants a Growing
8 Cows a Milking
7 Sweet Potatoes
6 Chickens Laying
5 Golden Leaves
4 Cotton Bales
3 Bottles of Wine
2 Soybean Fields
And a Turkey in a Christmas Tree
We’re wishing everyone a safe and happy holiday season!
What would your NC 12 Days of Christmas be?
