WRAL reporter Brian Shrader and our own Lisa Prince feature seasonal recipes in their Got to Be Good Cookin’ segment using ingredients grown and available right here in North Carolina.
Brian and Lisa transform ordinary canned green beans into a delicious side dish using a recipe from Brian’s grandmother. To make, start by pouring a can of green beans in a sauce pot. Then add pepper, butter and two strips of fatback. Finally, add a pinch of sugar and boil until you’ve cooked out all the water. Brian says the sugar is the secret to helping the canned beans taste fresh.
