Agriculture Commissioner Steve Troxler presents Dan Madding with the NCDA&CS Employee of the Month award.
Agriculture Commissioner Steve Troxler recognized Dan Madding as the NCDA&CS Employee of the Month for July 2012 during a recent meeting in Raleigh. Madding, who is director of information support services for the Emergency Programs Division, was joined by his wife and two children at the ceremony.
Madding is responsible for the daily management of the Multi-Hazard Threat Database (MHTD), oversight of hardware issues and all of the applications within the database. The MHTD and applications within the system are used to support a variety of departmental programs, as well as other programs for various state agencies.
During natural disasters, Madding ensures specific data needs are met for emergency responders. He also ensures Web applications are developed or modified to meet the unique circumstances of each event. Madding also worked with pilots to plan the flight path for Commissioner Troxler’s tour of damaged farmland after last year’s tornadoes and hurricane.
His letter of recommendation included the following:
Dan demonstrates a very positive attitude each day with a goal of accomplishing a myriad of tasks while offering very practical solutions. He networks well within the state GIS community and keeps the department well-informed on issues related to state GIS efforts. Dan has a true talent for assigning tasks and supporting staff with training or equipment to help improve competency and efficiency.
