WRAL reporter Brian Shrader and our own Lisa Prince feature seasonal recipes in their Got to Be Good Cookin’ segment using ingredients grown and available right here in North Carolina.
Lisa recommends this delicious Pineapple and Shrimp Pizza as an alternative to a standard pepperoni and cheese. To start, cover a pizza crust with a sauce of honey, soy and vinegar. Next, top the pizza with N.C. shrimp, scallions, pineapple and mozzarella cheese. Bake the pizza until the crust is cooked and the cheese is melted. Finish by drizzling some of the honey sauce on top of the pizza.
The highlight of this dish is fresh N.C. shrimp, but the sauce and other toppings really bring it all together. If you don’t like pineapple or shrimp, Lisa recommends trying other ingredients because, as she points out, pizza is all about personal preferences.
