WRAL reporter Brian Shrader and our own Lisa Prince feature seasonal recipes in their Got to Be Good Cookin’ segment using ingredients grown and available right here in North Carolina.
This simple and delicious recipe for homemade pickles was shared by Clare Turner in Charlotte. Make sure to plan plenty of time before serving because these tasty treats take three days to set. Fortunately, they keep for about three weeks so you have time to use them.
To make the pickles, alternate layers of sliced cucumbers and onions in a large bowl, pint or quart jar. Then add garlic cloves and fresh dill. For the liquid, bring white vinegar, water, sugar and salt to a boil. Cool the liquid completely and pour over the cucumber mixture. Cover and refrigerate mixture. In three days, you’ll be ready to enjoy.
