The State Farmers Market will be hosting Crawfish Day Saturday. Fresh N.C. crawfish will be sold starting at 10 a.m. Make sure you get there early because the crawfish go fast. Crawfish will be sold for $6 per pound live or $7 per pound cooked. There is a 5-pound minimum purchase for live crawfish and a pound minimum for cooked crawfish. There is a 25-pound limit per person and no preorders will be accepted.
In addition to crawfish, you’ll find blueberries, peaches, green peppers, vegetables and other leafy greens at farmers markets and roadside stands across the state. Master Gardeners will be on hand this Saturday and June 23 to answer your gardening questions. All clinics are free, and the public is encouraged to bring samples from problem plants or insects that need to be diagnosed. The Master Gardener Program provides research-based information on home horticulture. Trained volunteers are prepared to help with advice on growing plants, insect identification and managing disease problems.
Fire Safety Day
Piedmont Triad Farmers Market
Saturday, June 9; 11 a.m.-2 p.m.
The Colfax Fire Department will educate the public on fire safety. There will be a smokehouse, several fire engines and games for the whole family. The department also will be selling hot dogs as a fund-raising event.
