Fans of “Flavor, NC” will be happy to know that Lisa Prince and the whole “Flavor, NC” crew are busy filming 10 new episodes for season 2 on UNC-TV. Viewers have only a few more months to wait; the new season is expected to air at the end of September.

Season 2 will feature seafood, pasture-raised beef, strawberries, eggs, apples, wine, apple brandy and other commodities. This season, Lisa and the camera crew will even follow a chef to a farmers market to see how he shops and uses local products to create mouth-watering menu specials.

Season 1 of “Flavor, NC” featured some great recipes using North Carolina products, but season 2 promises to be just as memorable when it comes to great recipes, Prince said.

“After every shoot, I have come home and made dishes featured in these upcoming episodes because they are so different, but so delicious,” she said. “Viewers are going to want these recipes.”

Just to give viewers a hint of what’s coming their way … stout-braised Apple Brandy Farms beef short ribs served with parsnip sweet potato mash and molasses-flavored butternut squash. Prince said the “meat falls off the bone and the sides are phenomenal, like good comfort food should be.”

Also, watch for recipes for pork cooked with apple brandy, featuring a chutney along with a wheat berry salad with apple Dijon viniagarette, plus an outstanding flounder dish.

Speaking of seafood, the crew recently joined commercial fisherman Lin Chestnut of the Walking Fish Community Supported Fishery in Carteret County and Chef  James Clarkson of Clawson’s 1905 Restaurant and Pub and Aqua Restaurant on their latest culinary adventure.

The photos posted on the “Flavor, NC” Facebook page promise a great episode with spectacular views of the coast. Prince added that the freshness of the local flounder really elevated the taste of the seafood dishes.

“Season 2 has been just as much fun and just as fascinating to me to film; we have so many great chefs in our state, plus so much agricultural diversity on our farms,” Prince said. “In the end, it’s the people who make the show. I love to get to spend the day with them and showcase what they do.”
