In the Kitchen with Brian and Lisa: Asian Steak Salad

by | May 3, 2012

WRAL reporter Brian Shrader and our own Lisa Prince feature seasonal recipes in their Got to Be Good Cookin’ segment using ingredients grown and available right here in North Carolina.

Here’s another Asian-inspired beef recipe from Brian and Lisa, which should go well with last week’s beef lettuce wraps. The secret to this recipe is the marinade. To make, combine teriyaki sauce, lime juice, honey, vegetable oil, sesame oil and chili garlic sauce together in a small bowl. Cover a half cup of the sauce and set in the refrigerator as a salad dressing.

Coat the steaks with the remaining sauce in a plastic bag. Let the steaks marinate for at least 15 minutes, but up to two hours. Once the steaks have settled, grill them to a temperature of your liking. Serve the steak on top of a bed of Romaine lettuce, sprouts, carrots, onions, cilantro and mint. Add a side of vermicelli rice noodles to complete the dish.

Remember, you can find fresh N.C. beef and other locally grown ingredients for this recipe at area farmers markets and roadside stands. To find a location near you, go to www.ncfarmfresh.com.
