State farmers markets offer fresh produce and a lot more

by | Apr 13, 2012

Fresh N.C. strawberries are now available at your local farmers market.

Most people know you can find fresh, seasonal produce at one of the five state-operated farmers markets in North Carolina. But many people forget about the variety of N.C. meats, cheeses, wines and specialty foods also available year round.

Refresh your memory this weekend by visiting a farmers market, where you should find sweet N.C. strawberries and other locally grown products for your family. As an added bonus, the farmers markets in Asheville, Charlotte and Colfax will be holding special events this weekend. Mark you calendar for those and these other upcoming events this month at the markets:

April 13: Greenhouse Veggie Day, Colfax
April 14: WNC Farmers Market Car Show, Asheville
April 14: Master Gardeners of Mecklenburg County, Charlotte
April 14: Gourd Day, Colfax
