WRAL reporter Brian Shrader and our own Lisa Prince feature seasonal recipes in their Got to Be Good Cookin’ segment using ingredients grown and available right here in North Carolina.
Brian and Lisa have whipped up some delicious egg recipes this month, covering breakfast, lunch and dinner. Now it’s time for dessert with a cake recipe from Lisa’s grandmama. Lisa says Grandma Bullock would make this three-layer cake every year for Easter. The layers are dyed pink, green and yellow and topped with a sweet butter cream frosting.
Lisa suggests adding a small amount of almond extract to the layers. You also can try adding raspberry flavoring to the pink layer, lime flavoring to the green layer and lemon flavoring to the yellow layer for an Easter basket full of flavors in every bite.
