WRAL reporter Brian Shrader and our own Lisa Prince feature seasonal recipes in their Got to Be Good Cookin’ segment using ingredients grown and available right here in North Carolina.
In this week’s segment, Lisa pulls out a recipe for spiced cider from her grandmother’s cookbook. The beverage consists of N.C. apple cider, sugar, cloves, cinnamon and Allspice boiled together until the sugar is dissolved, then strained to remove the spices. A warm batch of this should help you get through cold nights of caroling or playing in the snow.
Lisa says it also makes a great gift. Just combine all the dry ingredients in one container, purchase a quart of N.C. apple cider and package the two with the spiced cider recipe in a gift basket of your choice.
The holidays wouldn’t be complete without decorations, specifically N.C. Christmas trees. You can find trees at choose-and-cut farms, roadside stands and farmers markets across the state. To find a location near you, go to www.ncfarmfresh.com.
