WRAL reporter Brian Shrader and our own Lisa Prince feature seasonal recipes in their Got to Be Good Cookin’ segment using ingredients grown and available right here in North Carolina.
Brian and Lisa wrap up a month of seafood recipes with this one for Frogmore Stew. Despite its name, the dish does not include frogs, but instead features fresh N.C. crab, clams and shrimp, as well as Polish sausage, corn and potatoes. All the ingredients are boiled in a broth of Old Bay seasoning and dark beer.
Once cooked and drained, the meats and vegetables are ready to serve on a newspaper-lined table. In the video below, Lisa also shows how you can make your own cocktail sauce for dipping.
For the best quality local seafood, make sure you buy in season. You can use the seafood availability chart created by the North Carolina Sea Grant to find out what local seafood is currently in season.
