State agriculture and emergency management officials will meet with farmers and representatives from the agriculture and agribusiness communities to discuss progress and concerns related to Hurricane Irene recovery process.
The meetings will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. Dates and locations are below:
- Tuesday, Oct. 18, Edgecombe County Cooperative Extension Service Livestock Arena, 1175 Kingsboro Road, Rocky Mount;
- Thursday, Oct. 20, Hertford County Cooperative Extension Office, 301 W. Tryon St., Winton.
Meetings already have occurred in Williamston and Kinston.
Officials in attendance will include Bob Etheridge, the governor’s special adviser for Hurricane Irene recovery efforts; David Smith, chief deputy commissioner of the N.C. Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services; and Aaron Martin, state director of the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Farm Service Agency. Representatives from N.C. Farm Bureau also will be there.
