In the Kitchen with Brian and Lisa: Triple chocolate delight

by | Oct 6, 2011

WRAL reporter Brian Shrader and our own Lisa Prince feature seasonal recipes in their Got to Be Good Cookin’ segment using ingredients grown and available right here in North Carolina.

Brian and Lisa get their just desserts as they finish a month of blue-ribbon recipes from the 2010 N.C. State Fair specialty cooking contest. This week’s recipe for triple chocolate delight was created by 11-year-old Noah Guthrie for the Pillsbury Pet-Ritz Pie Baking Championship. As the name implies, the dessert is made with three layers of chocolate – fudge brownie mix, chocolate mousse and candy-bar crumbles. Add a layer of frozen whipped topping and a Pet-Ritz deep-dish pie crust, and you’ve got your own prize-winning treat to enjoy at home.

You can see more winning recipes at this year’s specialty cooking contests at the N.C. State Fair. The State Fair will be held at the N.C. State Fairgrounds Oct. 13-23. Discount tickets are available online now through Oct. 13. Adult tickets are $6 in advance, $8 at the gate. Children’s tickets are $2 in advance or $3 at the gate.
