Today’s Topic: Century Farm Program

by | Sep 20, 2011

Agriculture Commissioner Steve Troxler sits down each week with Southern Farm Network’s Rhonda Garrison to discuss “Today’s Topic.”

Southern Farm Network logoThis week, Commissioner Troxler and Rhonda talk about the Century Farm Program, which recognizes North Carolina farms that have been in the same family continuously for 100 years or more. The NCDA&CS has operated the program since 1970, but in this year’s legislative session, the General Assembly passed a bill that codified the program in state law.

If your farm qualifies for Century Farm status, fill out an application and send it to us. Century Farm families receive a certificate and a sign that they can display on the farm. They also are eligible for the Century Farm Family Reunion, which takes place every four years at the N.C. State Fair. The next reunion is set for 2012.
