Today’s Topic: Commissioner’s Food Safety Forum scheduled for Aug. 22

Agriculture Commissioner Steve Troxler sits down each week with Southern Farm Network’s Rhonda Garrison to discuss “Today’s Topic.”

Southern Farm Network logoThe seventh annual Commissioner’s Food Safety Forum will take place Monday, Aug. 22, at the Sheraton Imperial Hotel and Convention Center in Research Triangle Park.

Commissioner Troxler will host the event from 8:30 a.m. to noon in conjunction with the N.C. Agribusiness Council’s Ag Leaders Conference. Admission to the Food Safety Forum is free, and lunch will be provided.

The forum is a unique networking and educational opportunity for anyone interested in food safety. Each year, it draws hundreds of farmers, food manufacturers, processors, retailers and public health professionals.

This year’s agenda will focus on the ongoing implementation of the federal Food Safety Modernization Act, the continuing refinement of public and private food-related disaster recovery efforts, and the latest industry efforts targeting food safety risks.
