One of those bills exempts certain small-scale processing of agricultural products from wastewater permit requirements. Some examples of exempt businesses would be small-scale winemaking, cheese making and vegetable processing. One of the growing areas of agriculture in North Carolina is processing. Farmers are taking additional steps to turn their commodities into value-added products. This law reduces the hurdles they need to jump in order to expand their business.
