Today’s Topic: N.C. farmers should prepare for hurricane season

Agriculture Commissioner Steve Troxler sits down each week with Southern Farm Network’s Rhonda Garrison to discuss “Today’s Topic.”

Southern Farm Network logoHurricane season begins tomorrow and continues until the end of November. This week, Commissioner Troxler and Rhonda talk about some of the things farmers can do to get ready for a season that N.C. State University scientists predict could produce up to 16 named storms in the Atlantic Ocean.

Troxler says farmers need to make preparations for their families, workers, equipment and buildings. They also need to have backup plans for electricity and drinkable water for their farm.
