WRAL reporter Brian Shrader and our own Lisa Prince feature seasonal recipes in their Got to Be Good Cookin’ segment using ingredients grown and available right here in North Carolina.
Strawberry season has almost ended in North Carolina, but you still can find berries at a few locations across the state. Brian and Lisa offer this recipe for strawberry bruschetta as they bid farewell to the tasty berry. To make the bruschetta, combine a pint of diced strawberries with red onions, basil, olive oil, balsamic vinegar, salt and sugar. Then serve the mixture on slices of toasted Italian bread. This would make a unique and delicious addition to your Memorial Day barbecue or picnic.
You can find ingredients for this recipe and others at farmers markets and roadside stands across the state. To find a location near you, go to www.ncfarmfresh.com. Next week, Brian and Lisa will welcome blueberry season with a sweet treat featuring N.C. blueberries.
