Dave Bartone, an engineer with the Property and Construction Division, was recognized as employee of the month for March 2011 at a recent meeting in Raleigh. Bartone has worked for the department for a little over a year, but has already made a significant contribution, particularly with his role at the N.C. State Fairgrounds. Due largely to his efforts, the N.C. State Fair was able to complete construction on a 52-site campground in time for the 2010 Fair.

At the Gov. James B. Hunt Jr. Horse Complex, Bartone oversaw the installation of a new check-in barn and assisted in neighborhood outreach around the horse complex. Bartone also oversaw electrical repair work at the complex.

He also has managed several paving projects at the fairgrounds and horse complex. Bartone is currently involved in planning capital improvements at the fairgrounds, including expansion of the campground area.
