Agriculture Commissioner Steve Troxler sits down each week with Southern Farm Network’s Rhonda Garrison to discuss “Today’s Topic.”
Commissioner Troxler recently returned from an agricultural trade mission to China. The purpose of the trip was to increase export opportunities for N.C. tobacco, cotton, soybeans, wheat and other commodities.
The commissioner also opened a North Carolina agricultural trade office in Beijing, which he says will be important for future trade opportunities. North Carolina is one of the few states with an ag trade office in the Asian country. Troxler says it will enable the state’s farmers to take advantage of market opportunities and navigate the world of international trade.
The value of N.C. ag exports to China doubled from 2008 to 2010. Click below to listen to Commissioner Troxler talk about the trip’s successes and how the state is working to boost ag exports even higher.
