Agriculture Commissioner Steve Troxler sits down each week with Southern Farm Network’s Rhonda Garrison to discuss “Today’s Topic.”
This week, Commissioner Troxler and Rhonda talk about new Census numbers showing that North Carolina’s population grew by 1.5 million from 2000 to 2010. A higher population brings both opportunities and challenges for North Carolina agriculture.
On the one hand, more people mean more potential customers for farmers, farmers markets and community-supported agriculture operations. On the other hand, more people mean more pressure on land resources.
