Each year, thousands of animals are displayed in livestock shows at the N.C. Mountain State Fair in Fletcher and N.C. State Fair in Raleigh, and it’s no surprise why participation is so high. North Carolina’s livestock industry is one of the best in the country. The state is ranked sixth in the nation with more than $6 billion in combined livestock, dairy and poultry cash receipts. From dairy cattle to pygmy goats, exhibitors spend countless hours raising animals of the highest quality. Livestock shows offer a chance for exhibitors, like the one shown above, to be rewarded for their effort.
