by | Jul 27, 2010

Agriculture Commissioner Steve Troxler sits down each week with the Southern Farm Network’s Rhonda Garrison to discuss “Today’s Topic.”

Southern Farm Network logoThis week Rhonda and Commissioner Troxler talk about his upcoming tours of farms in Eastern North Carolina.

Commissioner Troxler will be seeing a variety of commodities, including fresh market produce, tobacco, sweet potatoes, peanuts, cut flowers, swine and sheep. Some of these farms are big and some are small. Some are dealing with transition from one generation to another. Some are moving into value-added agricultural products and agritourism.

The Commissioner also will have a couple of lunchtime meetings with groups of farmers to hear what’s on their mind. He wants to know what’s working for them, and where they might be struggling.

Listen in as Commissioner Troxler and Rhonda discuss the importance of meeting with farmers across the state.
