Agriculture Commissioner Steve Troxler sits down each week with the Southern Farm Network’s Rhonda Garrison to discuss “Today’s Topic.”
North Carolina exported more than $37 million worth of vegetables in 2009. That’s a 34 percent increase over 2008. Sweet potatoes, which are popular in the United Kingdom, accounted for $20 million in exports.
North Carolina exports many other kinds of vegetables, too. For example, in 2009 the state exported $3.2 million worth of white potatoes and almost $2 million worth of tomatoes. Other exports include cucumbers, lettuce and carrots.
Listen in as Commissioner Troxler and Rhonda talk about exporting N.C. vegetables and which countries are our main customers.
