In the Market: Goodness grows in living color

by | May 12, 2010

With our In the Market feature, we’ll visit the State Farmers Market with nutrition marketing specialist Freda Butner to learn about nutrition facts, recipe tips and ways to maximize your local-foods shopping experiences across the state.

Using the “Goodness Grows in Living Color” color wheel as a guide, Freda explains how adding a variety of color to your diet can be both delicious and nutritious. Colorful fruits and vegetables contain essential vitamins, minerals, fiber, antioxidants and phytonutrients that work together to protect and maintain our bodies. Now is a perfect time to use the color wheel at your local farmers market. Strawberries are in season with more summer fruits and vegetables becoming available each week.
