The N.C. Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services has expanded a state quarantine for the imported fire ant, which has become a real pest across the state.

With the expansion, the quarantine now includes portions or entire areas of 70 North Carolina counties. The expanded quarantine covers all of Currituck, Durham and Hertford counties, and portions of Alamance, Granville, Guilford, Iredell, Rutherford and Vance counties.

Listen as Commissioner Troxler and Rhonda Garrison discuss the new areas under quarantine and what this means for homeowners and businesses.
