In the Market: Nutritious ways to use local foods with children

by | Jan 20, 2010

In this new “In the Market” feature, we’ll visit the State Farmers Market with nutrition marketing specialist Freda Butner to learn about nutrition facts, recipe tips and ways to maximize your local foods shopping experiences across the state.

To kick off this series, we talked with Freda to get some tips on using the winter vegetables available at the market right now to make kid-friendly recipes and to get children involved in the process. Farmers markets and roadside stands are great places for children to learn more about where their food comes from and, often times, to meet the farmers who grew that food just down the road.
