In the Kitchen with Lisa and Brian: Apple-Blueberry Crisp

by | Dec 2, 2009

WRAL reporter Brian Shrader and our own Lisa Prince feature seasonal recipes in their Got to Be Good Cookin’ segment using ingredients grown and available right here in North Carolina. We’ll post each video here, along with links to the recipes.

This week’s Got to Be NC Thanksgiving recipe may come after the actual holiday, but it would make a tasty addition to any meal in December or throughout the rest of the year. Three N.C. commodities – pecans, blueberries and apples – play important roles in this Apple-Blueberry Crisp.

Lisa also has some other ways to change up the recipe:

This is a great Thanksgiving dessert with a twist using the blueberries. You could substitute cranberries in place of the blueberries as well. It would also be a great spring dessert when fresh NC blueberries are available. Adding some whipped cream or vanilla ice cream wouldn’t hurt.

N.C. apples are still in season, so visit www.NCFarmFresh.com to find a roadside stand or farmers market in your area. For the entire printable recipe, check out this PDF version.
