Agriculture Commissioner Steve Troxler sits down each week with the Southern Farm Network’s Rhonda Garrison to discuss “Today’s Topic.”
This week, I filled in for Commissioner Troxler to talk about N.C. Christmas trees. The state is looking at one of its best tree crops ever, with growers harvesting more than 5 million trees. The state ranked second in the nation in cash receipts from Christmas trees in 2008, with sales of $100 million.
Fresh N.C. Christmas trees are available at choose-and-cut farms, nurseries, garden centers and other retailers. For a listing, log on to www.ncfarmfresh.com.
