Earlier this week, I had the honor of presenting two NCDA&CS employees with certificates recognizing their completion of the Certified Public Manager Program. I want to congratulate David Hardy and Kathleen Kidd for completing this rigorous two-year program coordinated by the Office of State Personnel.
According to OSP’s description, the CPM program “provides in-depth, comprehensive leadership development and training to middle managers and statewide program directors in North Carolina’s government agencies and universities.” As graduates of the CPM program, David and Kathleen now hold the Certified Public Manager designation, which is recognized by a consortium of more than 30 states and entities in the public sector.
David and Kathleen were required to complete 10 courses and two post-course assessments, and then apply their knowledge to a project aimed at improving their organization. And they had to do all of that while still fulfilling their daily duties at the department.
David oversees the soil science lab in the NCDA&CS Agronomic Division, and Kathleen is the administrator of the biological control program in our Plant Industry Division. Both of them are highly dedicated employees, and we are fortunate to have them working on behalf of North Carolina’s citizens.
